Knits with a Story: Heritage-Focused Content for a Global Aran Brand
Aran partnered with Verver to create an ongoing stream of heritage-led photography and video that honoured the story of Aran knitwear while supporting modern e-commerce and social channels. Through monthly studio shoots, seasonal campaigns, and location-based brand ambassador videos, we helped Aran show not just what they sell—but the culture, craft, and emotion woven into every piece.
About the Brand
Aran (aran.com) is a heritage Irish knitwear brand, known worldwide for its traditional Aran sweaters and heirloom-knit designs. With a strong international customer base and a deep connection to the west of Ireland and the Aran Islands, the brand lives at the intersection of craft, culture, and contemporary style.
As the brand expanded its online presence and social storytelling, it needed visuals media that could match the richness of its heritage.
The Challenge
Aran already had a beloved product category and a recognisable aesthetic. The challenge was to:
Showcase Craft & Heritage
Communicate the symbolism, stitch stories and cultural roots of Aran knitwear—not just display garments on models.
Create Consistent Content at Scale
Produce regular, high-quality photography and video for website, social, newsletters, in-store merchandising, and catalogues.
Sharpen Brand Voice & Style
Align visuals and copy with the desired positioning: premium, romantic, rooted in Irish heritage, yet relevant to modern wardrobes worldwide.
Bring the Brand to Life On Location
Extend the story beyond the studio—onto Inis Mór and into Aran stores—using brand ambassadors to embody the brand in motion.
The brief went beyond “a photoshoot.” Aran needed a creative partner who could shape a coherent storytelling system and deliver content month after month.
Our Approach
1. Brand Voice & Story Framework
Through discussion with the Aran team, we defined a clear, repeatable brand voice:
Romantic, heritage-focused, evocative and poetic — a voice that celebrates tradition, uses rich descriptive language, and invites the audience into the myth and meaning of Aran knitwear.
The voice embodied:
- Storytelling – vivid imagery and narrative captions
- Tradition – reverence for heritage, stitches, makers and island life
- Inspiration – metaphors, lyrical language, and emotional connection
We set practical guidelines:
- Use descriptive adjectives and sensory details
- Reference history, culture and symbolism
- Employ metaphor and personification of sea, stone, wool and weather
- Write in a flowing, lyrical style with varied rhythm
This became the backbone of our social captions, ad copy and content briefs.
2. Monthly Studio Content Production
Aran shipped product directly to the Verver studio, where we handled the full pipeline:
- Garment prep – steaming, checking fit and detail
- Styling & outfit building – pairing knitwear with complementary pieces to reflect desired positioning
- Modelled studio photography – capturing each design on body, with flattering, versatile angles
- Styled flat lay imagery – creating styled compositions for e-commerce, catalogues and advertising.
All garments were re-packaged and returned after each shoot. This monthly rhythm created a dependable flow of fresh, on-brand content.
3. Story-Led Photo & Video (Including Brand Ambassadors)
We produced a mix of stills and motion assets tailored to specific objectives:
Modelled Product & Lifestyle Images
For core product pages, lookbooks, in-store merchandising and digital ads.
Flat Lays & Cut-Outs
Seasonal colour stories, texture details, and assets designed for overlays and graphic treatments across ads and email.
Brand Focused Videos
Short videos showing:
- The origins of Aran sweaters
- Traditional craftsmanship and process
- The human stories behind the brand
Brand Ambassador Campaigns – The Gardiner Brothers
To connect heritage with contemporary Irish culture and global audiences, we produced social-first video content featuring the Gardiner Brothers:
- On Inis Mór – capturing the brothers in motion against the raw landscape of one of the Aran Islands, pairing dynamic Irish dance with Aran knitwear in its spiritual home.
- In Aran Stores – filming on-location content that blended performance, product and place for use across social campaigns and promotional pushes.
These pieces provided high-impact, shareable content that felt both authentic and aspirational.
Styling & “How To Wear” Content
Photo and video centred on:
- Aran knits styled for everyday life and travel
- “Get the look” references (celebrity-style and trend angles)
- Cosy lifestyle moments in home settings
Campaign Assets
Themed imagery and video designed to support:
- Seasonal campaigns (Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day, Black Friday)
- Story arcs around heritage, slow fashion and winter rituals
Each shoot—studio or on location—was planned with multi-platform use in mind, so content could work across website, organic social, paid ads, email and in-store screens.

Results
Cohesive Heritage Storytelling
A defined brand voice and visual language that consistently linked Aran products back to history, symbolism and place.
High-Quality, Ready-to-Use Asset Library
Modelled imagery, flat lays, and video clips formatted for web, social, newsletters, ads and in-store use—reducing pressure on internal teams.
Memorable Ambassador Content
Gardiner Brothers videos from Inis Mór and Aran stores gave the brand highly engaging, shareable pieces that connected tradition with contemporary Irish culture.
Flexible Campaign Content
Seasonal promotions and UGC initiatives had a strong visual backbone and could be assembled quickly from existing assets.
Stronger Perceived Brand Value
By combining evocative storytelling with polished imagery and dynamic video, Aran knitwear was framed as wearable heritage rather than just another jumper.
Suzy in Verver was an absolute pro to work with. Hired her to do product photography for Aran knitwear website – Suzy arranged all models, props, etc. & styled all garments to provide us with such a high standard of end shots. Suzy was always able to decipher our briefs (!) And really understood what we were trying to achieve with the brand – she provided hugely valuable inputs too. Both photography & video content simply couldn’t have been better. A dream to work with all the way & highly, highly recommend.
Conclusion
Working with Aran brought together everything Verver does best: visual craft, narrative depth, and strategic systems. Through ongoing content creation—both in studio and on the islands—we helped turn a globally known knitwear brand into a more fully expressed story, where each stitch and frame points back to place, history and feeling.
If you’re a heritage or fashion brand ready to move beyond basic product photos into story-driven visuals, ambassador content and ongoing content systems, we’d love to collaborate.
