The Journey Together
A North West Hospice Podcast
The Journey Together: Producing a Compassionate Palliative Care Podcast
North West Hospice Charity partnered with Verver to create The Journey Together — a podcast series offering warm, practical conversations about palliative care. Verver handled end-to-end production: from concept development and artwork to in-studio recording, editing, show notes, SEO-optimised landing page, and social media assets. The result is a thoughtful audio resource that supports patients, families, caregivers, and the wider community.
About the Organisation
North West Hospice provides specialist palliative care services to people with life-limiting illnesses in Sligo, Leitrim and South Donegal. Beyond medical care, the hospice supports families emotionally, spiritually, and practically.
The hospice team wanted a way to extend that support beyond the walls of the building—offering guidance and reassurance people could access in their own time, at their own pace.
The Challenge
Palliative care is deeply sensitive, often misunderstood, and emotionally complex. North West Hospice had three core needs:
- Education – Clear, accessible explanations of what palliative care is (and isn’t), including medical, legal and financial aspects.
- Emotional Support – Conversations that felt human, gentle and honest—combining professional insight with lived experience.
- Reach & Accessibility – A format that could be shared easily with patients, families, professionals, and the wider community.
They needed more than a recording service. They needed a creative partner who could shape the concept, manage the production, and build all the supporting assets required to launch a credible, high-quality series.
Our Approach
Verver worked closely with the hospice team to design and deliver The Journey Together as a complete podcast system—from first idea to live episodes on major platforms.
1. Concept & Series Design
Starting from an initial planning and brainstorming session, we:
- Helped refine the series title and positioning: The Journey Together – Navigating Palliative Care.
- Clarified the core objectives, tone, and target audiences (patients, families, carers, community).
- Developed a season structure covering topics such as:
- What palliative care really means
- The role of hospice and community teams
- Emotional and bereavement support
- Legal and financial planning
- Funerals, memorials and meaning
- Real stories from families and volunteers
We also supported guest and host planning, ensuring each episode had a clear focus and a balance of expert insight and personal experience.
2. Series-Level Production
To give the podcast a strong, recognisable identity, Verver created:
- Show artwork & visual identity – square cover art and supporting graphics.
- Show description & metadata – clear, SEO-aware copy for platforms and website.
- Hosting & syndication setup – configuration and submission to major podcast directories (e.g. Spotify, Apple).
3. Episode-Level Production
For each episode, Verver provided:
- In-studio recording – calm, guided interview environment with professional audio capture.
- Editing & sound design – removing distractions, shaping the narrative, and ensuring clear, warm sound.
- Episode artwork – square and vertical graphics suitable for podcast apps and social media.
- Show notes & titles – listener-friendly summaries with key takeaways and useful links.
- Episode transcripts – improving accessibility and repurposing potential for web and print.
- Social media teaser clips – short audio/video snippets for promotion on hospice channels.
- Uploading & scheduling on the podcast hosting platform.
4. Landing Page & SEO
To make the series easy to find and share, we designed content for a dedicated podcast landing page on the North West Hospice website, including:
- SEO-optimised title and meta description
- Intro copy explaining the purpose of the series
- Embedded podcast player and platform links
- Sectioned content explaining:
- What listeners will hear
- Who the podcast is for
- Types of guests featured
- How to subscribe, share, or get in touch
- Optional call-to-action to support the hospice through donations or volunteering
This ensures the podcast functions not just as audio, but as a discoverable, evergreen digital resource.

Stronger Community Awareness
The series helps demystify palliative care, clarifying what the hospice does and how it supports the wider community.
- Â
Reusable Content for Multiple Channels

- Fundraising and awareness campaigns
Professional, Consistent Production

Conclusion
The Journey Together shows what’s possible when thoughtful storytelling and solid production come together around a sensitive topic. Verver’s role was to make the process manageable and supportive for the hospice team—handling the technical and creative details so they could focus on what they do best: caring for people.
